Best New Series 2011

BEST NEW SERIES OF 2011 – DAREDEVIL

In a year where we had more #1 issues than any other… nothing, and I do mean nothing, was as good as Mark Waid, Paolo Rivera and Marcos Martin‘s DAREDEVIL.

Let’s take a moment and really think about that. We had a goodly portion of the X-books relaunched in high style with UNCANNY X-MEN and WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN, new first issues on all of Marvel’s Ultimate Universe line, lots of great new series for big guns like PUNISHER and VENOM, a much celebrated line-wide reboot for DC that got us some really amazing fan-favorite comics like JUSTICE LEAGUE by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee, a return to James Robinson glory with SHADE, and seriously one of the best BATMAN books on the stands in forever. And don’t forget 2011 also had played launching pad to some mind-numbingly fantastic creator owned releases like NONPLAYER, RACHEL RISING, PIGS, BUTCHER BAKER, WITCHDOCTOR, RED WING, the long-awaited Azzarello/Risso/Johnson SPACEMAN, and the mighty return of DARK HORSE PRESENTS. And perhaps you’ll even remember the year also brought us beautiful books like one of my personal favorites SPONTANEOUS and the utterly brilliant and beyond gorgeous XOMBI.

So yeah, it should be a tough year to pick “Best New Series.” But amazingly, it isn’t.

It’s DAREDEVIL all the way.

All seven issues of this series are still available at distribution and each week we are constantly restocking it. If you’re not reading it already, you really should be. Or you can add the hardcover to your pull list, that comes out early February.
