Enjoy 148 snapshots from last week’s incredible Frank Quitely @ Isotope event c/o our resident genius paparazzo Dyami Serna. This was one of the best parties we’ve ever thrown. And these photos? So, so gorgeous!

Frank Quitely Original Art

At tonight’s Frank Quitely @ the Isotope event we have a very special (and exceedingly rare) treat for you all… Frank will be selling original comic art pages!

Let me tell you, there seriously is a whole lot of amazing things here, including that stunning New X-Men #138 cover featured here. Check out a few more of the pages we’ll be featuring tonight here. Frank’s prices are very reasonable, ranging from $175 up to $3500 for his super spectacular covers.

Unlike other galleries the Isotope does not take a cut of Frank’s money, so we definitely encourage you to bring cash if possible, and pay Frank directly. If you need to use the Isotope’s credit card machine we add a small 10% charge just to cover tax and a portion of the card processing costs. We will definitely be putting some hard-earned dollars in his pocket ourselves. I’ve got my eye on one of Xorn’s Special Class camping trip pages. I really loved that arc.

So… yay! Frank Quietly is selling original art at the Isotope tonight. Not at the con or any other comic shop!

This event is going to rock.

Frank Quitely @ the Isotope!

The Isotope’s Saturday night WonderCon events are the stuff of comic book legend. Each year we bring in the industry’s coolest superstars, throw a huge party designed to rock the infinite Earths, and invite you all to join us. And this year is no exception…

Frank Quitely, the Scottish comics artgod behind some of the best comics of the decade, ALL-STAR SUPERMAN, NEW X-MEN, WE3, and BATMAN & ROBIN, comes to the Isotope for a rare American appearance! Frank will be hanging out, talking comics, meeting fans, and signing autographs all night. We also hear he’s planning to bring in some original artwork to sell too. Awesome!

We wanted to welcome Mister Quitely to SF in the highest of high style so we’re turning things up a notch just for him, and this event will also be featuring world-record sword swallower Betty Bloomerz and the famous Squidling Bros. Circus Sideshow from Philadelphia, PA for a special happy hour show to entertain him and all of you. Yes, you read that right… sword swallowing! Prepare your brain for what you are about to bear witness to by watching this, this, and this.

All night long we’ll also be spotlighting the sweet, backside-shaking tunes by San Francisco’s hottest grandmaster on the wheels of steel, DJ Bearzbub, and an assortment of original cocktails based on Frank’s work created just for this event by Isotope’s own Kirsten Baldock. What could be better?

And don’t forget on Friday night we’re also teaming up with iFanboy for the planet’s first ever WALKING DEAD Bar Crawl with series creator Robert Kirkman. This is going to be one seriously huge WonderCon weekend!

See you then!

Your Next Comic Creator Obsession: Dave Taylor

It’s my job to always have one eye out for the Next Big Thing In Comics. To hunt down the best comics have to offer and to keep my customers right on that bleeding edge, discovering their favorite new comic creators before the rest of the industry catches on. So with San Diego Comic Con is coming up I thought now was a good time to let you all know about your next favorite comic creator before the official announcements hit.

Chances are you haven’t heard of Dave Taylor yet (unless you’re a reader of 2000ad that is)… but that is all about to change. Because in only a few weeks DC is going to be announcing the Batman project Taylor has been quietly working on for the past year.

With a style that brings to mind all the best aspects of Frank Quitely, Seth Fisher and Moebius there isn’t a doubt in my mind that whatever they announce about him at SDCC is going to blow people’s minds. If that image above (just a piece of a panel) hasn’t already made your pulse quicken allow me to let Mister Taylor show you what he can do, go ahead and click this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and this … and then check out this absolutely gorgeous Iron Man variant cover and this mind-blowing view of Mega-City One.

See, he’s your next favorite comic artist, isn’t he?!

I’ve been following Dave’s blog carefully over the last couple years (as well as making sure my collection has everything that I can get of his work before he hits big here with American comic readers), and it’s pretty clear that it’s very soon that DC finally announces the “high-end Batman project” he’s been hinting at. Trust me, whatever it is, it’s going to be big.

Check out Dave’s blog and see even more drop-dead gorgeous artwork here:

And watch for that Dave Taylor Batman news at San Diego Comic Con!

UPDATE: Well it looks like the settings on my Orb of Agamotto are set a little farther in the future than I thought! According to Mister Taylor himself we’re going to have wait just a little bit longer until the project he and his “mystery author” are working on detonates the US comics market.

I guess that just gives all of us just a little more time to enjoy his work before he becomes one of the biggest names in comics… and with that in mind, I suggest scooping up some of his original art from his website while it’s still affordable! Here’s the page I’m buying. What amazing Dave Taylor original art are you guys getting?
