Want to know what we’re playing at the Isotope? Tune into the Isotope Hi-Fi and give your earbuds a hand-selected selection of Iso-approved tunes to complement your sequential art reads.

This week I’ll be dazzling you with a mix of some of the bands that have been generating a lot of Isotope airplay over the past month, including the original version of “Rabies (Baby’s Got The)” by Rhode Island’s amazing Six Finger Satellite, a little demo tape taste from insanely popular electro lords Sleigh Bells, some amazingly catchy noisy stuff from Isotope mainstays Les Georges Leningrad, Late of the Pier, Dandi Wind, vintage French New Wave treats from Viol Af Dis, a killer cover of “Primitive” Nazis From Mars, and a carny-sprinkled of the many hauntingly beautiful songs that has been perpetually invading my thoughts and dreams lately from the hypnotic Planningtorock. I honestly can’t think of an album that’s haunted me more in many years. I hope you’re all enjoying peeking in on what we’re playing around these parts!

There must be something in the air (aside from the Blue Angels)… everybody just seems to be in kind of an extra spicy mood around the city this week. Have you noticed?! With this in mind, the Isotope Hi-Fi is serving up a saucy cabaret of nine electro neo-burlesque and lounge tunes with several Francofantastic sounds suggested to me recently by our many Parisian visitors, I think you’ll like ‘em! This set list includes sexy songs from Vegomatic, Caravan Palace, Melody Sweets, Cucumber, Parov Stelar, Mestizo & Mike Gao, Minimatic, and (of course) a little something steamy from Fred and Marion of The Lovers. Ooh la la! Tune in here:

Like last week I’m still in an indy electro-punk new wave mood, as evidenced by a duo of Kraftwerk covers by The Cardigans and the Enzo Fabiani Quartet, but this week’s vibe is a bit more on the noise-y side of things (maybe it was my trip to Coney Island over the weekend). Whatever the case, I think you’ll enjoy indulging your ears with the likies of Robotnicka, Von LMO, The Units, Virgin Mega Whore, Lost Sounds, and a really cool duet with Little Boots & Gary Numan. I hope you’re all enjoying peeking in on what we’re playing around these parts!

Isotope Hi-Fi

“Hey James, what’s this band we’re listening to?!” tends to be a pretty common question ’round these parts. So here’s a little treat for those among you who are wanting a little taste-test of what’s playing on the Isotope Hi-Fi today, some audio epicurean treats to complement your weekly comic browsing and reading.

This sample from my delectable electro new-wavey flavor portfolio of musical yumminess includes a nice concentrated mix of nifty modern tracks and a couple gems from yesteryear by Vive La Fête, We Are Wolves, Ruth, The Passions, Ladytron, The Emperor Machine, Dutchess Says, and Telephone. Mmmm… that’s good!
