Robert Kirkman, creator of THE WALKING DEAD, meets world record sword swallower Betty Bloomerz and gets in on the Squidling Brothers Circus Sideshow‘s act during Isotope, iFanboy and Image Comics’ legendary WALKING DEAD Zombie Bar Crawl.

Kirkman & The Clown

My favorite comic from all of WonderCon this year would have to be this fumetti strip, made by Isotope’s resident photographer Dyami Serna, entitled “Robert Kirkman vs. Jellyboy The Clown.” I think you will love it!

Consisting entirely of live shots from Dyami’s camera of Kirkman’s encounter with the Squidling Bros. Circus Sideshow at the first stop on our WALKING DEAD Zombie Bar Crawl event.

Yes it’s true, WALKING DEAD creator Robert Kirkman not only did indeed staple money to Jellyboy The Clown’s face but he also got right into the act and helped Betty Bloomerz with her world-record sword swallowing act!

More photos to come!

Walking Dead Survival Guide

On Friday, April 1st 2011 the dead took over San Francisco! Isotope, iFanboy and Image Comics hosted THE WALKING DEAD ZOMBIE BAR CRAWL with superstar creator Robert Kirkman. This is the survival guidebook that folks who rode the Magic Bus received. Sketchbook art by Charlie Adlard and guide created in-house here at the Isotope.

Frank Quitely Original Art

At tonight’s Frank Quitely @ the Isotope event we have a very special (and exceedingly rare) treat for you all… Frank will be selling original comic art pages!

Let me tell you, there seriously is a whole lot of amazing things here, including that stunning New X-Men #138 cover featured here. Check out a few more of the pages we’ll be featuring tonight here. Frank’s prices are very reasonable, ranging from $175 up to $3500 for his super spectacular covers.

Unlike other galleries the Isotope does not take a cut of Frank’s money, so we definitely encourage you to bring cash if possible, and pay Frank directly. If you need to use the Isotope’s credit card machine we add a small 10% charge just to cover tax and a portion of the card processing costs. We will definitely be putting some hard-earned dollars in his pocket ourselves. I’ve got my eye on one of Xorn’s Special Class camping trip pages. I really loved that arc.

So… yay! Frank Quietly is selling original art at the Isotope tonight. Not at the con or any other comic shop!

This event is going to rock.

Act Fast! Walking Dead Bar Crawl

This is it, at noon today tickets go on sale for the WALKING DEAD ZOMBIE BAR CRAWL with Robert Kirkman!

The Isotope and iFanboy have chartered San Francisco’s world-famous Magic Bus to get you a chance to ride in high style. Those lucky enough to grab a seat on this insanely cool bus will know the glory of VIP transport to our every stop, a WALKING DEAD Zombie Bar Crawl Wristband, an exclusive and ultra-limited edition WALKING DEAD SF BAR CRAWL SURVIVAL GUIDE to get autographed, and will be rubbing shoulders with the always awesome Robert Kirkman for what will no doubt be one of the most fun nights of their lives.

Tickets go on sale at 12:00 noon today. Get them here:

http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/168708

Seating is limited, and we expect it to sell out rapidly. So don’t delay!

UPDATE: Wow, a legitimate one minute sell-out! It’s 100% hardcore WALKING DEAD fans from the look of it, a couple names I definitely recognize. Northern California and a high % of folks from Oregon. Almost everyone who got tickets only got themselves a single ticket, so it looks like we’ll all be making lots of new friends!

For those who didn’t get a ticket, there’s still hope! Image Comics will be giving out two passes at a WonderCon raffle, details can be found at this link here. Best of luck!

Frank Quitely @ the Isotope!

The Isotope’s Saturday night WonderCon events are the stuff of comic book legend. Each year we bring in the industry’s coolest superstars, throw a huge party designed to rock the infinite Earths, and invite you all to join us. And this year is no exception…

Frank Quitely, the Scottish comics artgod behind some of the best comics of the decade, ALL-STAR SUPERMAN, NEW X-MEN, WE3, and BATMAN & ROBIN, comes to the Isotope for a rare American appearance! Frank will be hanging out, talking comics, meeting fans, and signing autographs all night. We also hear he’s planning to bring in some original artwork to sell too. Awesome!

We wanted to welcome Mister Quitely to SF in the highest of high style so we’re turning things up a notch just for him, and this event will also be featuring world-record sword swallower Betty Bloomerz and the famous Squidling Bros. Circus Sideshow from Philadelphia, PA for a special happy hour show to entertain him and all of you. Yes, you read that right… sword swallowing! Prepare your brain for what you are about to bear witness to by watching this, this, and this.

All night long we’ll also be spotlighting the sweet, backside-shaking tunes by San Francisco’s hottest grandmaster on the wheels of steel, DJ Bearzbub, and an assortment of original cocktails based on Frank’s work created just for this event by Isotope’s own Kirsten Baldock. What could be better?

And don’t forget on Friday night we’re also teaming up with iFanboy for the planet’s first ever WALKING DEAD Bar Crawl with series creator Robert Kirkman. This is going to be one seriously huge WonderCon weekend!

Isotope Comics, iFanboy and Image Comics Team Up For A Once In A Lifetime Zombie Apocalypse Bar Crawl With Fans

Berkeley, CA — March 25, 2011 – The dead will rise and take over San Francisco this April 1. Robert Kirkman of THE WALKING DEAD fame and hoards of his zombified fans will invade the apocalypse-worthy drinking establishments of the city by the bay, seeking the flesh of the living, and quite possibly some adult beverages as well. Isotope Comics, iFanboy, and Image Comics are teaming up for a night the city will never forget.

Walking Dead and Robert Kirkman fans of legal drinking age are welcome to join the tour as we explore the saloon strongholds throughout San Francisco. James Sime, proprietor of Isotope Comics, shares tips for surviving the night, “It’s time to get zombified San Francisco!” said Sime, “Grabbing a seat on this insanely cool bus will score you VIP transport to our every stop, an exclusive WALKING DEAD SF BAR CRAWL SURVIVAL GUIDE to get autographed, and will have you rubbing shoulders with the always awesome Robert Kirkman for what will no doubt be one of the most fun nights of your life! Wear your best zombie gear, indulge in one of the many of THE WALKING DEAD drink specials the bars will be serving all night, and get a personal introduction to Robert Kirkman from yours truly! What could be better!?”

There will be a limited number of tickets available for purchase to ride along on this apocalyptic zombie bar crawl aboard the world famous MAGIC BUS (www.magicbussf.com). Tickets will cost $50 and go on sale at 3 PM Eastern / Noon Pacific on Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Tickets will be available online by visiting iFanboy.com or Isotopecomics.com on March 30th to get the exclusive link to order.

For those who miss out on this limited ticket sale, there will be another chance to win a ticket for themselves and a friend by visiting the Image Comics booth #401 at WonderCon in San Francisco. All purchases made there on Friday April 1st will enter fans in a ticket raffle. Robert Kirkman will draw the winning raffle number there at the Image Comics booth #401 at 4:30 pm.

“This stands to be one of the most unforgettable nights ever,” said iFanboy’s Ron Richards, “We’ve had some fun times with iFanboy and Isotope and all the great comic fans of San Francisco, but adding Robert Kirkman and Image Comics to our bar crawl will be epic! But we also want as many WALKING DEAD fans as possible to get to join in on the madness!”

Next week, THE WALKING DEAD zombie bar crawl route and the estimated times of arrival for the bus with Robert Kirkman will be posted on www.isotopecomics.com and www.ifanboy.com, as well as be available at Isotope Comics at 326 Fell St, San Francisco and the Image Comics booth #401 at Wonder Con.
