Can San Francisco Survive?

WonderCon will never be the same…

Isotope Comics, iFanboy and Image Comics Team Up For A Once In A Lifetime Zombie Apocalypse Bar Crawl With Fans

Berkeley, CA — March 25, 2011 – The dead will rise and take over San Francisco this April 1. Robert Kirkman of THE WALKING DEAD fame and hoards of his zombified fans will invade the apocalypse-worthy drinking establishments of the city by the bay, seeking the flesh of the living, and quite possibly some adult beverages as well. Isotope Comics, iFanboy, and Image Comics are teaming up for a night the city will never forget.

Walking Dead and Robert Kirkman fans of legal drinking age are welcome to join the tour as we explore the saloon strongholds throughout San Francisco. Those who fear to walk among the dead or long to trade survivor stories with Mr. Kirkman himself can buy a ticket to ride in style aboard a San Francisco tour bus with Robert Kirkman, James Sime and Conor Kilpatrick and Ron Richards of iFanboy.

James Sime, proprietor of Isotope Comics, shares tips for surviving the night, “It’s time to get zombified San Francisco!” said Sime, “Grabbing a seat on this insanely cool bus will score you VIP transport to our every stop, an exclusive WALKING DEAD SF BAR CRAWL SURVIVAL GUIDE to get autographed, and will have you rubbing shoulders with the always awesome Robert Kirkman for what will no doubt be one of the most fun nights of your life! Wear your best zombie gear, indulge in one of the many of THE WALKING DEAD drink specials the bars will be serving all night, and get a personal introduction to Robert Kirkman from yours truly! What could be better!?”

There will be a limited number of tickets available for purchase to ride along on this apocalyptic zombie bar crawl aboard the world famous MAGIC BUS ( Tickets will cost $50 and go on sale at 3 PM Eastern / Noon Pacific on Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Tickets will be available online by visiting or on March 30th to get the exclusive link to order.

For those who miss out on this limited ticket sale, there will be another chance to win a ticket for themselves and a friend by visiting the Image Comics booth #401 at WonderCon in San Francisco. All purchases made there on Friday April 1st will enter fans in a ticket raffle. Robert Kirkman will draw the winning raffle number there at the Image Comics booth #401 at 4:30 pm.

“This stands to be one of the most unforgettable nights ever,” said iFanboy’s Ron Richards, “We’ve had some fun times with iFanboy and Isotope and all the great comic fans of San Francisco, but adding Robert Kirkman and Image Comics to our bar crawl will be epic! But we also want as many WALKING DEAD fans as possible to get to join in on the madness!”

Next week, THE WALKING DEAD zombie bar crawl route and the estimated times of arrival for the bus with Robert Kirkman will be posted on and, as well as be available at Isotope Comics at 326 Fell St, San Francisco and the Image Comics booth #401 at Wonder Con.

We Suggest You Prepare Yourselves

We sure hope San Francisco has stocked up on canned foods and shotgun shells.

Here at the Isotope we and our amigos from iFanboy have been preparing with this and this and this.

The Walking Dead Trailer is Alive @ AMC

Break out your shotgun, the Walking Dead trailer is alive @ AMC!

After years of waiting, months of anticipation, and more time than we care to admit of outright obsessing about AMC’s adaptation of one of my favorite comic series of all, Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard, Cliff Rathburn, and Tony Moore‘s jaw-dropping zombie series The Walking Dead (did you know that you can find me in a pile of dead bodies in volume one? It’s true!)… the trailer is finally on-line.

And oh, it’s so good!

This show is being made by the fine folks behind two of the best shows to ever grace a tv set, Mad Men and Breaking Bad. And adapted for the small screen by The Shawshank Redemption director. I gotta say, we fans have a lot to get excited about!

Run, don’t walk, to the AMC site right now to get the first peek at what will no doubt be one of our favorite things shambling into 2010. Check out the trailer for yourself:

The Loving Dead

Girls! Zombies! Zepplins!

Most of you probably know Jeremy Lassen as a fellow Isotope customer. He’s something of a mohawked fixture around the shop and a heck of a sharp-dressed guy too. And maybe you also know him as the guy with excellent suggestions at the beloved Boarderlands Books. But what most people don’t know is Jeremy is also the publisher of some of the best genre fiction novels of the last five years. From the Nebula-award winning Windup Girl to this Neil Gaiman, Clive Barker, Laurell Hamilton, Steven King zombie anthology you probably already own, to the Mall of Cthulhu, to a book that has a Nazi riding a Unicorn on the cover… when it comes to publishing cool books Jeremy is the man!

Lassen’s Nightshade Books latest release is something Jeremy and I have been eagerly anticipating for several years now, The Loving Dead by Amelia Beamer. An entertaining and surprisingly original take on the zombie apocalypse… sexually transmitted zombie-ism set in the San Francisco Bay Area, with zepplins. You know you want to read this (guess what comic store has copies)!

And, hey, why not attend the launch party for this new novel too?
